We have been hard at work at the new patch an here are a few of the things we have been able to come up with:
New Colonist model and animations are in the game. Right now there is a replacement for the walk, idle, work, and death animations although it is our intention to add more animations to differentiate between different types of work (take data, collect sample, mine, etc.) We wrote the system so we can add these new animations in later very easily.
New Nav meshes. Every map nav mesh has been given a complete overhaul. The new meshes allow colonists to navigate easier and without any delay.
New Icons. The floating GUI icons above interactable objects have been replaced with fully 3D models. Unlike the previous versions, these icons float directly above the action spot and provide an at-a-glance view of what you can do in your environment.
Optimization. Many of the GUI and menu systems have undergone overhauls to improve lag times and FPS. These won’t look any different but should run much faster.
New map screen HUD. The Map screen HUD has been replaced with a cleaner smaller frame.
Ice fixes. Ice nodes will no longer respawn with zero ice when loading a save game.
Fog and ambient light should now load properly when starting a save game.
